[Pdl-porters] Core-cleanup branch of PDL

I just re-merged my earlier start at core cleanup with the 2.007 branch and pushed it up as the "core-cleanup" branch on sourceforge. I'm currently working through the main program files in Core, cleaning out dead code, prettyprinting, and diking out some of the leftovers from Tuomas' extended dataflow experiment (e.g. the notion of "families"); that is also helping make sure the "pdlguts" document is right (speaking of which, I'd like to push that up ... somewhere. Should it go under Book, or in its own top-level place?).

The core-cleanup branch is *not* binary compatible with master, since "struct pdl" has fewer fields in it.

For the next couple of weeks, I'll continue motoring through the core files and simply hosing out chaff; others are welcome to do so as well. Once that's done, I believe there was a list of core to-dos that Chris was managing. Chris is this (http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/pdl/index.php?title=PDL_TODO_List) the main list? Or is it somewhere else?

If that is the case, make sure the api version number is ++d

That list is from pre-2.006, I believe. I'll scrub through the
discussions, and notes regarding PDL3 and put together
a clean start TODO list to work from. I think a lot of the
earlier items are either in the done basket or are now
overcome by events and need updating....

Cheers,
Chris

P.S. Could you please wrap your email lines at 80 chars
or less so that the list archives can be easily read?
